Chlorine suppliers can provide tremendous help to Hurricane Katrina relief efforts by registering their products on the designated Department of Homeland Security Web site, which is designed to match suppliers and recipients with needed products and services. This is the government's central clearinghouse, and officials are urging its use by all companies that wish to assist in relief and recovery efforts to help restore safe drinking water supplies and protect public health in the Gulf Coast region.

Follow this article link to make both product and monetary donations to help restore safe drinking water supplies and protect public health in the Gulf Coast region.

08/12/2005 CHLORINE SAFETY ALERT: All Chlorine Users Should Inspect Valves for Cracks
The Chlorine Institute recommends that all users of chlorine cylinders and ton containers thoroughly inspect the valves for cracks. There have been ongoing reports of cracked valves found in both chlorine cylinders and ton containers—including two recent cases where cylinder valves developed the cracks at a customer site after they were fully inspected by both the valve manufacturer and the chlorine packager before shipment. Your chlorine supplier and valve manufacturers will continue to follow enhanced inspection procedures. In addition, the Chlorine Institute recommends that chlorine consumers perform an additional safety inspection procedure like the one available on the Institute’s website--follow this article link to download.

12/27/2003 Chlorine Safety Ambassadors Needed
If your company does business internationally with chlor-alkali consumers, packagers or producers in emerging countries, then CI needs your help to disseminate critical safety information on chlorine handling. Through its work with the World Chlorine Council Global Safety and Global Advocacy Teams, CI has prepared chlorine safety information packets for our new Chlorine Safety Ambassadors to distribute as appropriate to contacts overseas who do not have the benefit of a chlorine safety association in their country. To volunteer, follow the above e-mail link.
