Security Partnerships

Chlorine Security Leadership Team

The Chlorine Security Leadership Team is a partnership between CI and the Chlorine Chemistry Council. The Team was created in 2004 to advance the coordination of security policy and related communication with stakeholders, research initiatives and member services in order to enhance the security of chlorine and understand that it is a critical asset to public health and the national security.

Chemical Sector Council

The Chemical Sector Council was launched in September 2004 through the joint efforts of DHS, CI and 13 other fellow chemical sector organizations:

  • American Chemistry Council
  • Chemical Producers & Distributors Association
  • Chlorine Chemistry Council
  • Compressed Gas Association
  • Crop Life America
  • Institute of Makers of Explosives
  • International Institute of Ammonia Refrigeration
  • National Association of Chemical Distributors
  • National Paint & Coatings Association
  • Synthetic Organic Chemical Manufacturers Association
  • The Adhesive and Sealants Council
  • The Fertilizer Institute
  • The Society of the Plastics Industry, Inc.

The Council was designed to advance the protection of chemistry and chemical manufacturing as a critical infrastructure by facilitating the two-way sharing of information about physical and cyber threats, vulnerabilities, incidents, protective measures and best practices. The Council is a valuable tool to enable the government to accurately understand the status and views of the chemical sector. Events and actions of the Council will be coordinated with the Chlorine Security Leadership Team and communicated to members on a regular basis.
