The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) is the federal agency responsible for conducting research and making recommendations for the prevention of work-related injury and illness. NIOSH is part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the Department of Health and Human Services. The Health Hazard Evaluation (HHE) Program is used by NIOSH in response to requests from workers (or their representatives), employers, and other government agencies to conduct workplace assessments .

The Chlorine Institute follows the environmental issues and activities that are relevant to our members and which impact the chlor-alkali industry.
Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA)
The Chlorine Institute follows industry safety issues that are relevant to our members and which impact the chlor-alkali industry. Wherever possible the Chlorine Institute will monitor the industry for instances of key “lessons learned” to share with our members and other associations as well as Fact Sheets and Guidance Documents.
