CHLOREP Training

An effective emergency response mutual aid network is dependent on trained team members. The Chlorine Institute sponsors annual and triennial training for CHLOREP Team Members, enabling companies to provide the level of training needed for effective chlorine emergency response teams.

Annual Team Training

CHLOREP Team Training is a 5-day intensive training program that is offered on an annual basis at the Mississippi State Fire Academy in Jackson, MS. This program combines classroom instruction with hands-on, scenario-based field exercises to prepare participants for chlorine emergency response. The program is intended for individuals from CHLOREP Teams and CHLOREP Contractors with some response experience and knowledge of responding to a chlorine emergency. The training is appropriate for new CHLOREP Team Members, as well as a refresher for longer-term Team Members. Space is very limited and priority is given to CHLOREP Teams and CHLOREP Contractors, as well as other CI members and certain invited partners. Additional requests may be accommodated upon request and as space is available.

2024 Team Training will take place during the week of April 29 - May 3. To get a feel for the curriculum of this training, checkout the 2024 training schedule and watch this teaser video below.

Advanced Training

Advanced CHLOREP Training is a 2-day training program offered on a triennial basis and is intended for the most experienced CHLOREP Team and CHLOREP Contractor responders. This training focuses on the application of techniques developed to perform a field transfer of chlorine from a damaged bulk container. This training program includes both classroom instruction and hands-on field activities designed to provide the knowledge required to patch a breached chlorine tank car and conduct a field transfer using The Chlorine Institute’s liquid chlorine transfer pump. Space is very limited and priority is given to CHLOREP Teams and CHLOREP Contractors, as well as certain invited partners. Additional requests may be accommodated upon request and as space is available.

The next Advanced Training program is tentatively planned for the fall of 2025 at Tarrant County College's Fire Service Training Center in Fort Worth, TX. Stay tuned for more details as planning progresses.
