Robyn Brooks – Vice President, Health, Environment, Safety and Security
Robyn’s role as Vice President for Health, Environment, Safety and Security (HESS) means she is “on point” for CI’s members in these critical areas.  This includes helping companies identify and share best practices, working with members to revise and update CI’s HESS safety pamphlets and materials, and serving as staff lead for the HESS Issue Team.  She also is CI’s primary representative to CSB, EPA, OSHA and DHS.  Robyn served as the on-camera moderator of CI’s TRANSCAER® Chlorine Safety Tour Training videos. This Summa Cum Laude graduate earned her B.S. in Chemical Engineering at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. Robyn earned her MBA at The University of Maryland.

Michelle Jurgens – Manager, Administrative Functions, Board Secretary & Treasurer
As CI’s Board Secretary and Treasurer, Michelle works closely with the CI President and the Board of Directors to ensure that meetings are run efficiently and crucial decisions and other actions are fully recorded. In addition, Michelle oversees CI’s IT infrastructure including computers and other office systems and manages overall office administration. A native Australian, who studied at the Charles Darwin University, she graduated with a Certificate in Hospitality before pursuing a career in professional theater.

Robyn Kinsley – Vice President, Transportation & Emergency Preparedness
Two of CI’s most important responsibilities are protecting members’ ability to safely and securely transport chlorine and other mission chemicals, and helping them and emergency responders prepare to manage incidents.  These efforts are led by the Transportation and the Emergency Preparedness Issue Teams, which are staffed by Robyn Kinsley, CI’s Vice President, Transportation and Emergency Preparedness.  Robyn represents CI’s members before government agencies such as the Federal Railroad Administration’s Rail Safety Advisory Committee, and at industry groups, including the Association of American Railroad’s Tank Car Committee and other hazardous materials shipper associations. She also supervises and helps manage CI’s extensive CHLOREP and TRANSCAER® training activities. A graduate of Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (Terre Haute, IN) with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering, Robyn earned her MBA at The George Washington University.

Cindy Kuranchie – Director, Membership and Outreach
Cindy is responsible for planning, managing and executing two of CI’s major events: our Annual and Fall Meetings. In addition, she contributes to CI's emergency response training activities by coordinating TRANSCAER® events and serving as a voting member of the National TRANSCAER Task Group. Cindy plays an integral role in keeping members satisfied by serving as the go-to person for questions related to membership. She serves as the CI webmaster, maintaining CI’s website and online bookstore. Cindy is a graduate of George Mason University with a B.A. in Government and International Politics. Cindy is currently working on her MBA at Virginia Tech.

Brooke Lobdell – Project Coordinator
Brooke helps make CI events successful – from TRANSCAER® training events to CHLOREP Team Training –by helping to ensure materials and people are in the right places at the right times. She also plays an important role in editing and formatting CI’s safety pamphlets, and her data management activity helps CI members get the most from their membership and participation. Brooke is a graduate from George Mason University, where she acquired her B.S. in Global and Community Health.

Jack Pendlebury – Project Engineer

Jack provides support to each of the Issue Teams and plays a key role in safety data collection and reporting. This includes gathering and analyzing information for incidents occurring at fixed facilities as well as during transport. He manages several other CI resources, such as the CHLOREP app and the Technical Service inbox, with hopes of taking on more responsibility in the future. Jack is a graduate of Virginia Tech with a B.S. in chemical engineering (class of 2022). He is excited to learn about the chlor-alkali industry and contribute to its safety and regulatory efforts.

Frank Reiner – President
Frank is responsible for the day-to-day-operations of CI, high-level representation of the Institute to government, industry and nongovernmental organizations, outreach and communications with member companies and their personnel, and above all, ensuring the fulfillment CI’s crucial safety and security mission. In these capacities, this 30-year industry and transportation engineering leader actively works with other chemical industry, transportation and safety organizations and government agencies. Among others, these include: the Association of American Railroads and its Tank Car Committee, several U.S. government agencies including the Departments of Transportation and Homeland Security, the American Chemistry Council, and the International Centre for Chemical Safety and Security. Frank is a longtime member and former Chairman of the National TRANSCAERSM Task Group. He earned his B.S. in Civil Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology, and his M.S. in Management from Purdue University Calumet.

Daniel Stein – Senior Director, Product Stewardship and Analysis
As CI’s Sr. Director of Product Stewardship and Analysis, Daniel is responsible for staffing CI’s Product Stewardship Issue Team and the World Chlorine Council’s Global Advocacy and Science Team. He also provides data analytic support for the Health, Environment, Safety, and Security Issue Team. He earned his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from The University of Cincinnati (class of 2011). Daniel has over a decade of combined Chlor-Alkali Environmental, Manufacturing, Capital Project, and Supply Chain experience from previous roles within both The Dow Chemical Company and Olin Corporation. He is excited to engage with members to understand their needs and advance the mission of the Institute.
