Prepared responders make a difference.

On August 26–27, The Chlorine Institute (CI) brought its CHLOREP Level II Training to Edmonton, Alberta, welcoming 29 emergency responders representing 11 organizations for two days of classroom instruction and hands-on exercises.

Typically offered every other year in Canada, CHLOREP Level II Training provides a valuable opportunity for emergency response contractors and others in the emergency response community to strengthen their knowledge and practical skills for responding to chlorine and hazardous materials incidents.

Through a combination of classroom learning and field exercises, participants had the opportunity to build experience, reinforce response practices, and prepare for the challenges they may face during an emergency.

Industry Expertise Supports Responder Preparedness

The training was made possible through the expertise and dedication of instructors representing organizations across the industry and emergency response community.

CI extends its sincere thanks to the following instructors for sharing their knowledge and experience throughout the two-day program:

  • Jon Gardiner and Christopher Miller – CPKC

  • Matt Leigh – CN Rail

  • Ryan Thiessen – ClearTech

  • John McDonald – GFL Environmental Inc.

  • Jay Oliver – QM Solutions

  • Tony Bisesi and Matt Sheir – Brenntag

Investing in Emergency Preparedness

Effective emergency response depends on preparation, practical knowledge, and the ability to apply skills when they matter most. Training opportunities like CHLOREP Level II help responders continue developing those capabilities while learning alongside others in the emergency response community.

The Chlorine Institute thanks all 29 participating responders for investing their time in strengthening their skills and preparedness, as well as the instructors and organizations whose contributions made this training possible.
