Leadership Transition at CI: Thanking John Eskew and Welcoming Julie Hildebrand
At CI’s 2026 Annual Meeting, members reflected on a meaningful leadership transition as John Eskew of OxyChem concluded his service as CI Board Chair, and Julie Hildebrand of Westlake Corporation stepped into the role.
CI Board Chairs serve two-year terms and play a critical role in guiding the Institute’s strategic direction and advancing its mission. CI is deeply grateful to both our Board Chairs and to the broader CI membership for their continued leadership, engagement, and commitment to safety.
During the Wednesday Recognition Lunch, Frank Reiner, CI President, shared positive remarks recognizing John Eskew’s leadership and lasting contributions during his time as Board Chair:
“While we’ve been fortunate to have strong board chairs over the years, John has a way of going above and beyond what’s typically expected. He pays attention to the details, asks the right questions, and is always looking for ways to move our mission forward.
He’s also been generous with his time and resources, even extending support from his own organization to help strengthen our work.
John, we sincerely appreciate your leadership, your partnership, and everything you’ve done for CI over the past two years.”
As CI looks ahead, the Institute is pleased to welcome Julie Hildebrand of Westlake Corporation as the new CI Board Chair. Julie brings deep industry experience and a strong commitment to CI’s values, and the Board and staff look forward to working closely with her as CI continues to advance safety, security, and sustainability across the industry.
CI extends its sincere thanks to John Eskew for his exceptional service and leadership, and appreciation to Julie Hildebrand for her willingness to serve. The Institute is grateful for the ongoing engagement and support of its members, whose commitment makes CI’s work possible.
