CI: Tell us a little about yourself, and what you do.

I am currently the Vice President of Manufacturing for Chemtrade Electrochem and have been in the role for five years.  I have 19 years’ experience in the Electrochemistry industry but was primarily focused on Sodium Chlorate operations for the first fifteen and only took on responsibility for our Chlor Alkali operations in 2021.  Previous to this, I was on the customer end with 21 years in the Pulp manufacturing business, using sodium chlorate, chlorine and caustic as a raw material for our process before becoming a producer.  Ironically, my very first project I had as a young Chemical Engineer out of university was overhauling a chlorine evaporator system for railcars that were supplied from the plant I now oversee.  

CI: When did you first become involved at CI? What activities have you been involved in at CI?

I have been involved in CI for five years and was recently appointed to the Board of Directors.  As a small producer, we rely heavily on the support and knowledge of CI to help us on our journey of responsible manufacturing.  

CI: What is something interesting about you that few would know or guess?

In my off time I am an avid sailor, skier and scuba diver which works well with my chosen place to live on Vancouver Island off the west coast of Vancouver, Canada

CI: What do you value most from your CI membership?

The work the CI does is critical to helping the industry continue to safely provide the services we do and support our philosophy of Responsible Care and continuous improvement.
